Dr. DeBakey fostered this young doctor’s interest in how the body, under proper conditions, could heal itself very effectively. One of the first areas of science that fascinated Dr. Harrell, was ocular research and medicine. He was shocked to learn that up to 100 million people suffer from dry eyes globally. The overall diagnosis for Dry Eye is difficult to make and complicated in nature, and the cause is not completely agreed upon. There is no cure, and the treatment options are suboptimal.
